hi! i’m cate ré.
(pronounced "ray")
i'm a sixteen year old singer-songwriter based in new york city and nantucket. ever since i wrote my first song at the age of six, pursuing a career in music has been my dream. my music explores the complex highs and lows of adolescence and girlhood.
my debut single, "Easier," came out in january 2026, produced by floyd kellogg and mastered by grammy winner mark donahue.
in 2026, youngarts named me a winner in voice: music creation and selected me for youngarts lab new york. i also won a scholastic gold key for the lyrics to my original song "living".
i have played at the bitter end, the cutting room, pinkfrog cafe, brooklyn music kitchen, 54 below, and the reverie room in new york city, as well as cisco brewers, the westport country playhouse, the nantucket performing arts center, and nantucket island school of design and the arts (nisda).
music can do more than entertain, which is why i created “the young are at the gates”, a fundraiser concert series raising money for access to reproductive health care for women. i want to use my music as a platform for good and to create change through art.
my mentors include floyd kellogg, joshua elson, and gaia menon, and my musical inspirations include taylor swift, gracie abrams, jensen mcrae, lizzy mcalpine, paul mccartney, stevie nicks, carly simon, olivia rodrigo, olivia dean, and shaina taub.
in the summer, you can usually find me playing on the street corner in nantucket in front of the ice cream shop, which is the coolest summer job i could ask for.
thanks for listening and i hope you stick around to come on this journey with me! :)
